Clinical Dynamics FAQs

  • What are CalTables?

CalTables are the answer to the industry's issue of NIBP monitor readings having a bias

from the simulator setting. Selecting the appropriate CalTable on the AccuPulse

compensates for the expected bias. This eliminates the need for users to know how much

    bias is normal.

    • The results should simply agree with the setting.
    • Using the appropriate CalTables means the NIBP monitor readings can be expected to match the AccuPulse BP settings.
    • CalTable support available for most popular NIBP monitors, with the ability to store 45 CalTables
    • Clinical Dynamics has the ability to work with NIBP manufacturers to develop and validate a new CalTable whenever a new model monitor or algorithm comes on the market.
  • What is the AccuArm?

The AccuArm is a NIBP Simulation Accessory for use with the AccuPulse, AccuPulse XL

and AccuSim. AccuArm serves as a deformable mandrel that allows the user to run NIBP

simulation (via the connected simulator) on wearable patient monitoring devices or other

NIBP monitoring devices that have no external pressure connection.

  • What is the FlatSim?

It is an Optical SPO2 Simulation Accessory that allows the AccuSim or SmartSat XL to

optically test O2 Sat Flat/Disposable probes for the purpose of lot testing and production.

Single-use probe manufacturers use this device to determine probe integrity without the

need to distort it or wrap it around a finger-style optical SpO2 simulator.

  • What is FlatSens?

FlatSens is a Single-use Sp02 Probe-testing accessory for use with the SmartSat XL, which allows the user to conduct sensitivity and continuity tests on single-use probes without the need for bending or deforming the probe for the purpose of lot evaluation and quality testing.

  • What is the Optical Finger?

The Optical Finger is a SPO2 simulation accessory for use with the SmartSat XL and optical-capable AccuSim. The Optical Finger allows for Optical SPO2 simulation via reusable and single-use SpO2 patient finger probes. This device allows for Optical SpO2 simulation alongside the included standard Electrical SpO2 Simulation features of the AccuSim and SmartSat XL. Electrical SpO2 Simulation requires adapter cabling to interface with an Oximeter test, whereas the Optical SpO2 Simulation uses patient probes to interface with an Oximeter when testing.

  • Where is the Neonatal Mandrel located on the Benchtop units?

The AccuPulse XL features a built-in Neonatal Mandrel located on the reverse side of the cap of the on-board mandrel. Remove the cap and reinstall it with the clear Neonatal mandrel pointing out of the on-board mandrel in order to run NIBP Simulation using Neonatal-sized cuffs.

  • Where is the mandrel located on the AccuPulse Handheld units?

The case shape of AccuPulse/AccuSim itself has been designed to act as the mandrel; simply wrap the cuff around the body of the AccuPulse/AccuSim. A Neonatal mandrel is included in the hosing kit that is supplied with the AccuPulse/AccuSim.
